Recent Adventures

Dinner for Jodie's Birthday at Olive Garden
We had a blast and I absolutely love Jodie for the wonderful person she is! She always makes everyone feel loved and included. I love the random notes or Madagascar stickers she puts on my swim locker. She laughs more than anyone I know, causing everyone else in the room to do the same. What a great quality to have. Jodie always has a smile and a funny story to tell. Happy birthday babe!

Key Lime Pie
What a delicious treat that Makena and Chelsey made randomly one night! One of the many joys of having a ready-assesible kitchen is the joy of yummy food and cooking. As an apartment we have taken advantage of our wonderful, spacious kitchen. Our tummies love it! Key Lime Pie is one of Makena's specialties and boy will her family love her for it as well. I love these girls. Good times :)

guts.

So it's official. I'm going to get surgery next Friday, April 2nd. Finally, my ankle will STOP hurting and I will be able to run around like a normal kid again. (Well...that is after scootering, physical therapy, and walking in the much loved boot). Granted, I still run around and "pretend" it doesn't hurt, which is why this whole surgery thing is throwing people for a loop. I just cannot stand watching our FHE group play ultimate or volleyball and just sit on the side lines. It takes a lot for me to stay out of the action. For having never broken a single bone, I think this should have been broken instead. It would have healed faster and people could have drawn pictures and signed their little autographs all over me. But no...instead I get a boot and good ol' Dr. Faux (pronounced Fox, I know...not as cool) gets to cut me up. I had a dream when the idea of surgery came up awhile ago where I was having the surgery, but all my guts starting falling out of my ankle as they cut it up. SO horrifying! I'm hoping that does not happen. I'd like to keep my guts in their right spot...particularly my intestines. Pray for me that everything will go well! Thank goodness for my wonderful grandparents that are going to take care of me the best they can. I'm sure I won't be too helpless though. The challenge of the week of April 5th=stairs. hmmmmm. I do live on the third floor so that should be interesting. I will definitely feel for those wheelchair people and their much needed ramps. I'm joining the club, please be nice to me!

Laundry Fiasco

Laundry is a big task here at Liberty Square. They like to make sure you pay as much as possible in order to get clean clothes....physical and emotional. So...the laundry pile gets higher and higher until one day, Ah! No "cute" underwear left. The dreaded day comes when you have to sell your soul to the laundry room, clinking away your quarters. This dreaded day usually comes every 2 weeks, but for obvious reasons was stretched out beyond that. And the best part was, Chelsey caught the disease as well. We dedicated a day to laundry and set to work. Needless to say, I have never seen so much dirty laundry in my life. It took over the entire back of our closet and slowly kept creeping forward almost as if it would eat you. It took all my effort to squeeze the smelly pile into the basket. I discovered that sitting on the pile works wonders. :) Somehow, Chelsey had bigger problems and had to resort to using a few grocery bags to carry all of her clothes. After taking over 3 washers and 3 dryers, my clothes were finally clean and we proceeded to dump our entire wardrobe in front of the TV to fold. It was quite a sight! Oh, the day when I will have my own washer and dryer...

Girls Weekend!!

This past weekend was a blast!! On Friday I went bowling with Chelsey, Makena, and Aubrie. I never knew that bowling could be so much fun! The first game we just did normal bowling and the second game, fun/crazy style. My favorite move was when one person straddled in front of the lane, holding the ball between their legs and then another person would slide on their stomach and go under the other person's legs, pushing the ball down the lane. So, so fun! Saturday we watched the unfortunate BYU basketball game and then I  went to the dollar theatre to see the Blind Side with Chelsey, Lauren, Mandy, Kilee, and Stephen. It was awesome and seriously the best movie I have seen in awhile. I highly recommend it. Well, now I'm going to get back to the Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family! Life is good :)

Blah.

This week already has been filled with tests and assignments. So far 1 test down, 1 test to go, 2 papers to go, and then most likely surgery in the next 2 weeks. Needless to say, I'm not enthusiastic about the whole ordeal, especially the surgery. I sprained my ankle 9 months ago and it never quite healed all the way. My ligament is "stretched out" and so they're going to "tighten" it. Of course, that's the dumbed down language. I will get to ride a scooter for 3-4 weeks, equipped with a padded seat for my knee, four wheels, a hand break, and a handlebar. I'm sure I'll be a sight to see scooting around campus. Many have already called dibs on the chance to scoot on the wonderful machine. :) I will also get to wear a very sexy boot. yay. Mom is not too pleased with the whole ordeal and is cringing in the fact that she can't be here to comfort her "baby". haha I love her for it, but I'm sure I'll be fine. Thank goodness for wonderful grandparents. And hopefully all follows through and I actually do have surgery on Friday so that I can begin the healing process and get back in the water! Yay! So despite the stresses of the week, it is b-e-aUtiful outside and I wish I was back at the dorms with the nice green lawn, frisbees, vending machine ice cream, and nasty free brown blankets. Its just not the same on concrete... ha. An update on the ankle will come soon!

What my fancy new scooter might look like! :)

Salt Lake Weekend

This past weekend, Chelsey and I went to Salt Lake for a little adventure. Its been a two year tradition that we go on a "road trip" after the swim season is over. Last year we went to Vegas, which was a blast and we couldn't really top that. Last semester we went to Irvine, California for a weekend on a whim...another thing we couldn't beat. So in Salt Lake we stayed with my aunt and uncle for a night. We drove up Friday and went to the Gateway for a little shopping and had a failed attempt to go to the Lion House. Those old people who work there like to close at 8!! Who knew?? It was quite an adventure though...getting lost plenty of times, despite the block system, and being stared at by creepy guys in the car next to us. We survived and finally found edible goodness at Costa Vida, arriving 10 minutes before they closed.  I'm sure they were not happy campers to see us burst through the door, dying of hunger, just as they were cleaning everything up. But hey! The sign said they were still open :) Oh, Costa Vida only ended up as the final destination after searching the entire city for a Taco Bell. We eventually found it the next day, of course. We were one block off.
Spending the night at my aunt and uncle's was super fun. I love my cousins. Owen is the cutest and proceeded to wake me up the next morning, appearing at the bedside. "Tarawee, I wike you!" "I like you too Owen." (in morning raspy, little boy voice) haha he is so cute. On Saturday we slept a lot and took our time getting ready. It was amazing to have a homemade breakfast with French toast, real fruit, OJ, the works. I couldn't tell you the last time I had such a delicious breakfast. Amazing. The rest of the day's original plans were ruined due to the surprising snow. The zoo would have been WAY too cold, and same with the park. So much for picture time! Instead, we went to Clark's Planetarium, St. Madeline's Cathedral, and the Lion House (for real this time). I'd say it was a pretty successful trip. We headed home that afternoon and I had a very looonng nap. Emily, Chelsey's friend from home, spent the night and we definitely got in some good girl talk. :) It was a very fulfilling weekend.

Family

I have the best family in the world and I have no idea what I would do without them. We have some really great memories together and I would not be who I am today without their influence in my life.

My Dad
My dad is someone who I can talk to and die laughing in the process. Life is so hilarious when you talk to the man! Let me tell ya. My favorite was when he told me about how he was recently invited to go to a monster truck rally with some younger men from the ward. "Why in the world would I go to a monster truck rally??!!!" I don't know Dad, but apparently some people like it. My dad is always there for a good update and impressively keeps up with all the swimming stats. My number one fan. :)

My Siblings
I love them all! We have so much fun when we're together. I loved the times when we made home videos, giant cookies, went to the pool together, oh and those long road trips. You guys are the best! I love our skype dates and hearing friendly voices on the phone. I love the updates on regular life stuff, and just stuff that I miss out on.

My Mom
I call my mom everyday. Her advise and overall comfort towards me is irreplaceable. Whether its a recipe or to vent about a stupid test or really anything at all, she will listen. She keeps me updated on most everything on life and what is happening back at home. We laugh, we cry, and we love each other. Thanks Mom for all you do!

My Grandparents
I have very supportive grandparents for sure. Growing up with Grandma and Papa was a great blessing in my life. They are such good examples to me, especially as they serve a second mission in the Philippines. I miss them a lot, but I know they're doing great service for the Lord and the people of the Philippines.
Grandma and Grandpa Fuller are my new best friends. I call Grandma all the time just to talk and I have loved having them so close for the first time in my life. They love to spoil me, which I love. The best weekends are the get-a-ways to Heber with the roommates for homemade food, laughing, hot tub, and movies. They are always willing to give me rides places and let me go to church with them. Love you guys!

Shaving Cream FIGHT!!

Texas!!!

Ali and I :) Roomies!!
Medley Relay!
Shaving cream gone wrong
Oh, the things you'll find at the airport...
Erin, Addy, and I with REBECCA SONI! (Olympic Breaststroker)

This past weekend I went to Austin, Texas for my end of the year swim meet. Instead of going to Conference, 9 of us who didn't quite make it went to the Grand Prix Meet in Austin at the University of Texas. Despite the lack of teammates, we had a blast and swam fast! There were Olympic swimmers at the meet, who were really fun to see and we even got to get pictures with some of them. The best Olympic moment is when I bumped into Matt Greavers, Olympic sprinter, and he looked me straight in the eye and said "Sorry". Wow, is he beautiful! haha :) I swam pretty well--best times in the breaststroke events! 1:05.4 in the 100 and 2:26.0 in the 200. I made it back to finals for both of those events and got to swim them long course....ew. My 50 free was a season best, which I can't complain about (24.7). I love the University of Texas pool with its three pools, amazing score boards, and endless amount of seating. I enjoyed being with some of my best friends laughing and enjoying the end of our season together. One of the really fun moments was the epic shaving cream fight. Tim bought us all huge containers of nasty man smelling shaving cream, so we put it to good use. :) Here's some of the funny quotes from the weekend.

"Are you a snot? or a booger?"--Shari making fun of Tim
"I could spot you right away from down here! You're Miss Headband 2010!" -Tim
"I always knew you were a tiara girl, but I didn't know you were a headband girl!" -Tim
"You probably won't go that fast because you haven't really been training for the 200 breaststroke." -Stan and his wonderful encouragement
"Ah!! What WAS that?" "Oh, sorry that was my lotion." -Tim and Addy
"AHHHH!!!!! hahahaha" -Meagan being attacked with shaving cream
"LET'S GET HIM!" -Ali with shaving cream all over her hands about to attack Tim

March Madness!!

Thanks to my new friends across the hall, Chelsey and I have decided to do our own little March Madness extravaganza. Here is how it works.... For everything that you do on the list you get a certain amount of points. Each day you try and get as many points that you can. For example:

  • Eat a salad = 1 pt.
  • Sweep floor = 1 pt.
  • Visiting Teaching = 1 pt.
  • No eating out = 1 pt.
  • No sugar = 5 pt
  • Fruit/Veggie = 1 pt/serving
  • Exercise = 1 pt/15 min
  • No food baby = 1 pt.
  • Take out trash = 1 pt.
  • Write a letter to a missionary = 1 pt
  • Make the bed = 1 pt.
  • Pass cleaning check = 1 pt
  • 7 hours of sleep in a row = 1 pt.
  • Go to FHE = 1 pt
And the list goes on.... But I'm really excited to do our own sort of yay life march madness! Its a good idea that we glorified and I hope it will create good habits! We're going to make really cute posters to keep track of our points and put them on our pantries :)  The winner gets to be taken out to dinner by the other person. I hope I win! GO KARALEE!
