Countdown

The countdown is on! 

Only 3 more days until I don't have to worry about feeling like Calvin anymore. It has occurred in sudden burts of unenjoyment during finals. 

Only 4 more days until I get to see one of my favorite places. Only arial view, unfortunately. 

Only 6 more days until I get to marry my best friend for time and all eternity in the St. Louis LDS temple!

Only 8 more days until Waikiki Beach is a feast for my eyes. My Hawaii dream is coming true!

April Happenings

There has been a lot going on the last few weeks and my blogging has been slacking. Some of the exciting news includes...drumroll please...


1. I GOT THE INTERNSHIP!!!!! I'm officially a 3rd grade teacher at Bonneville Elementary School. I'm super excited and although it is only a year gig (hopefully longer) I can't wait to jump right in. But ask me in a few months and I might be over my head. Apparently I aced the interview process thanks to Dave and Scott  practicing with me. That night we celebrated with flowers and frozen yogurt. :)
2. Today is the last day of classes! I have one more class and one more assignment to do and then finals. Whooo. Basically I'm taking one day at a time. Survival Mode.
3. I get MARRIED next Saturday!!! I can't believe that time has gone by so fast. 6 months ago I said yes and finally the day is almost here! I've been floating on a love cloud for so long and finally the reality is setting in and its happening! Although this is the biggest decision of my life, I know with certainty that I am marrying the man of my dreams and my best friend.
4. Springtime has arrived and the flowers are blooming and the sandals are getting the dust brushed off of them. Except for the random snowfalls. Utah gets confused sometimes.
5. Easter was wonderful and I got to spend a lot of time with my new family. Scott and I loved playing the Easter Bunny.
6. I'm almost done packing, which has been a HUGE feat. I don't even know how I acquire so much stuff.
7. Scott and I get to be that weird couple that lays in the grass between classes together., basking in the sun.
8. We went to the Living Aquarium in Salt Lake and it was SUPER AWESOME! We were by far the oldest people there without kids and we spent at least 5 minutes at each exhibit, every fish tank. My favorite were the otters and penguins. Scott's favorite was probably the fish in general. There will be a future home aquarium soon.
9. We also went to the Science Museum in Salt Lake and had fun playing around with things there. Dry ice is still entertaining at 21.
10. We're going to HAWAII on our honeymoon!!!! Specifically Waikiki in Oahu. Ever since my entire family went without me for spring break last year I've been dying to go. Now I get to go with my best friend!
11. My practicum experience ended and I had to say goodbye to my 3rd and 4th graders. :(

It's been a great couple weeks!

The Strategies of a College Student

When you don't have a lot of money and you need things, it calls for creative measures. Today was one of those days. I was on a hunt for moving boxes. Yesterday there was a post of craig's list that said there were free boxes at a house. I went there and low and behold, all that was left was one dingy box that wouldn't hold much of anything.  So...I went to RC Wiley (a furniture store. I didn't know what it was til I came to Utah) and asked them for boxes.  Unfortunately, they only had refrigerator sized boxes and I am not moving a refrigerator so that was a no go. However, I did find out from a nice guy that Big 5 (a sporting good store...also a new discovery in Utah) often has boxes that they throw away or give away. So the hunt pursued today after being at Bonneville for the majority of the morning. Ashley, my wonderful friend and partner in action came along as we discovered the dumpster that in deed did have a large assortment of boxes. The only way to get them out was...to dumpster dive. Yep. In my cute teacher outfit and everything, white shoes, skirt, yep. Luckily there weren't people around to flash as I scaled the side of the dumpster. It was quite the sight as Ashley and I transferred box after box into my tiny car. Now the boxes are safe in my basement all ready for me to fill them to essential junk. Less then 3 weeks until the big day! 

I'm sure my mother is proud of my thriftiness!
