Wacky Wednesday

Today when I walked outside to go to class it was lightly snowing. My favorite kind of snow!! But then all of a sudden, WHAM! A snowflake hit me square in the eyeball! Yes, the gooey part. You would think my nice eyelashes would have protected me, but no they failed. I was probably too wide eyed admiring the snow to see the precarious snowflake headed strait for my cornea.

Then, I got a lovely phone call at 1:01PM from my trainer telling me that I was randomly picked to get drug tested at 5:00PM. Unfortunately, I have work from 4-7 so there was no way that was going to work unless someone could cover my shift. No one volunteered after an hour of feverish texting and calling. Lucky for me, the compliance office was smart and figured out that I'm a senior and done swimming so I got a call telling me I wouldn't have to be drug tested! YAY! I have successfully gone through a collegiate career without having to pee in front of anyone. A dream come true! Needless to say, it's been a very "Wacky Wednesday."

The Fun to my Yum

Thanks to leftover cake icing, the graham crackers practically jumped off of the shelf at me. It's such a good childhood treat that makes my day. Just the right amount of crunch and smooth sweetness. I wouldn't consider myself a big frosting person, but when combine with the deliciousness of a graham cracker...WOW! Well, I guess I am. Happy Tuesday!

Conference Champs!

Last week I competed in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation where both the men's and women's teams came in first place! It was a great way to end my swimming career and to be a part of some great swimming moments. I was able to go 2 best times and final in every one of my events.

50 Free: 24.26 (22nd)
100 Breast: 1:04.59 (15th)
200 Breast: 2:22.75 (17th)

I'm grateful for swimming and how it has benefited in my life. It taught me how to work hard, persist, and aim for big goals. One of my dreams was to swim on the BYU swim team and it happened! I couldn't tell you how many times I have thanked my Heavenly Father for that blessing.

Dr. Seuss

"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."

Valentine's Day

This was Scott and I's first Valentine's Day together this year. Granted he knew of my existence last year, but not enough to make a celebration of it. We celebrated a little early due to the Conference meet that was the week of actual Valentine's Day. It was so fun to go on a fancy date like we were newly daters and spend quality time with each other. We went to an Italian restaurant in downtown Salt Lake that was phenomenal! You can not go wrong with Italian food, but this place is to die for. (I already forgot the name, so ask Scott...regardless it sounded fancy) The decorations were so hilarious and very Italian. In the girls bathroom they had old underwear and bra ads on the walls. I wish I would have taken a picture of some of them. Needless to say, it made the bathroom experience a little longer than usual. And to top it off Scott got me new slippers!! I've had the same AWESOME pair probably since I was 15 so it was time to officially retire them to the garbage can. They were getting a little sad. All in all, it was a great night especially for people watching and spending time with the fiancé.

The old ones. They're nastier in real life.
The new ones!! With a real sole and everything!

Team

Why I love my team.

1. We have crazy, awesome parties with themes and costumes and we all somehow show up in the most amazing outfits. It's pretty legit.
2. We say weird phrases like, "Stop touching my feet!" or "That wall is slippery." or "How did you think the air was in there?"
3. We will eat at the same place everyday for a whole week because it is THAT good. Yes, Panera that really could be you.
4. We support each other and believe in each other.
5. We get excited for our teammates' success even if personally it wasn't the best day.
6. Everyone helps each other get a FastSkin 3 on. It's impossible to do alone, especially those straps.
7. The yearly shave brings cheers of excitement and anticipation.
8. "Good Luck" is a comforting and encouraging saying that calms nerves.
9. There's never a race that is swam alone. The whole team is behind you.
10. We're all more than teammates, we're friends.

I will miss swimming. It has been one of the greatest moments of my life to be able to swim and represent BYU as a swimmer. This last week the power and speediness will bring down the house. GO COUGS!

Check!

This past week I was able to achieve one of the things off of my 100 Life Goal list, as I like to call it. It's pretty much a bucket list of 100 things I want to do before I die. Well, #22 is officially crossed off the list.

22. Make the Conference team

Ever since I was a Freshman in here at BYU it has been my dream to be able to compete at the true collegiate level with my team. I worked by butt off as usual and its finally paid off. My ankle is finally completely healed and doesn't bother me anymore. For ankle stories click hereand here. My coaches think I'm swimming fast because I'm in loooooovvvve which may help the situation but I just think its because I work hard and really want it and my body is finally letting me. I'm so grateful for great teammates that have always believed in me. I can't wait to go to California and swim super speedy!!
