Good news!!! I got into the Elementary Education program yesterday!!! What a glorious day :) "This is the best day of my liiiiiffffeeee!!!" -Steve Carell. haha. I was doing laundry and decided to check the mail and low and behold there was the wonderful envelope! My friend Aubrie who lives across the hall from me was also trying to get into the program, and we've been planning a celebration ever since we turned them in. I bought baby Martinelli's and we decided to make each other cute posters to put on our apartment doors. We thought it was so fun because naturally, as future Elementary School teachers, we love to make posters. The one she made for me is so cute! I'm so excited to start taking classes that I will love in the fall. I am well on my way to preparing to teach the children of America. haha. love it :)

Fight Like A Girl
I was listening to this song while studying in the library, and it just made me happy. It's definitely a feel good song. It talks about how even though life is hard, we will get through it...just fight like a girl! All of you who hate country music...shame on you. Country music always has the best lyrics. Granted, there are the bad ones talking about his girl leaving him, dog dying, shooting someone...the works, but STILL! I love country music nonetheless.
Fight Like a Girl by Bomshel
So hold your head high
Don't ever let them define
The light in your eyes
Love yourself, give them h***
You can take on this world
You just stand and be strong
And then fight like a girl

School is HARD

Even though I have amazing memories so far in college, I hope to forget all the hard times that come with them. School is just plain hard. Studying isn't always fun...I'd much rather not have tests. Ever. I recently completed my first real 5 day lesson plan for an Elementary School class. I was given no real direction on how to complete the assignment, only that I had to use trade books (no internet). Believe me, it was a lot harder than I expected it to be! The topic I choose was the Olympics, because of the Winter Olympics going on right now in Vancouver. I learned a lot, but boy did it take a long time! I hope that I'll be able to use the lesson plan sometime in the future. The wonderful acceptance letter has not arrived yet! Cross your fingers!

Organizing Extravaganza!
| BEFORE |
Sometimes I go on these organizing kicks and spend hours rearranging things. No, I don't have time to organize things, but it happens anyways. One of the greatest presents I got for Christmas was a label maker! So handy! The latest organizing projects have been my cabinet and...well, basically the entire room. Chelsey (my roommate) and I love making forts and recently decided we wanted to push our beds together to make a giant, essentially king sized, bed. Well, one afternoon I decided to rearrange things so that there would be a fort underneath our beds as well! Best idea I've had in a while. lol. The cabinet also became much more manageable and even decorated! If I could I would organize for a living. Do they have a career for that??? haha
2010 Update!!
Taylor Swift and Jesse McCartney!!
La Jolla Beach Sunset

BYU Swimming!!
La Jolla Beach
I haven't blogged in awhile, so here are some updates on the new year, 2010!!
Swimming has been going well and we are just about to wrap up our season. We got to go to San Diego, California for Christmas training, which, despite the many sore muscles and hard swim sets, was a blast! We got to go to the beach a few times during the afternoons and even stopped by for a little sight seeing at the island, Coronado. A few of us learned how to surf, thanks to the help of a native San Diego recruit. We also had fun at meets vs Air Force and Wyoming, both away. However, I am NOT a fan of swimming at high altitudes, specifically 7250 ft. I swear my lungs were being sucked into themselves, gradually shrinking. Not a good feeling at all. I also learned that I never want to live in Wyoming! That place is ridiculously barren. The best part of Wyoming was our "wrestling" fights on the hotel beds pretending to be power rangers. :) Conference is in a couple weeks, but I'm going to a meet in Austin, Texas the week after because I didn't quite make the conference team. Only 15 girls get to go, which makes it very competitive. Another recent swimming adventure was our end of the year celebrity party! We all dressed up as celebrities, had a runway walk, danced, and of course ate lots of food. It was a blast and such a great idea! I was the country singer, Taylor Swift, equipped with boots, jean jacket, fun dress, and--thanks to Makena--very curly hair! Such a fun time!
School has been going well, at least well enough. Although college is a lot of fun, it sure is hard! I find out tomorrow, actually, if I get into the Elementary Education program. Cross your fingers!! I can't wait to be able to start my classes that help me become a good teacher. I'm already taking a few that you don't have to be in the program for. I absolutely love children's literature. We get to read children's books for our homework and the only test is the final! I learn so much from that class everytime I go. My other class that I'm taking towards ElEd is expository writing. My professor actually knows my dad and whole family from New Caanan, CT! Small world. That class, however, isn't as fun by any means. I would definitely want to read all day instead of write all day. So there's a little update on my school stuff. Oh and this is my last semester of GE's (not counting religion credits). Fun stuff!!

Christmas Delights
So sorry I haven't blogged in awhile. The semester is winding down and things are getting pretty hectic. I absolutely LOVE christmas time though. My roommates joke about how I'm so obsessed with Christmas music cuz that's all I ever listen to these days. Since the last post, I've been to Long Beach, California for a swim meet and have had some pretty exciting weekends. I'm so excited for Christmas!
